One stroke, a whole wall

Draw one stroke: how does each of the seventeen symmetry types repeat it?

最初のコマを描いています…

Draw a stroke anywhere on the picture; as you draw, it repeats across the plane by the type you have chosen, and until you draw, a small hook stands in for it. Gold is the stroke you drew, ivory its images slid and turned, ice blue its images flipped over by a mirror or a glide. Try the others: p1 only slides, one copy to each cell; p6m has six mirrors through each lattice point and twelve copies to a cell. About a centre of rotation, the smallest turn that brings the pattern back is 180°, 120°, 90° or 60°, and none of the seventeen comes back after a turn of 72°. Beneath it lies a sum of plane waves with the same symmetry. Turn on “mirrors, glides, centres”: mirrors are ice-blue lines, glide lines dashed coral, and centres of turns gold lenses, triangles, squares and hexagons, by how far they turn.
